Lorrie Janatopoulos lives in the heart of the Iron Range on 22 acres of land wrapped around a small lake. She’s been married for 33 years, and is a proud mother of one son and a loving grandmother to two granddaughters. Lorrie’s passion for family and community fuels her work and her campaign theme - Iron Range Strong.
An ardent supporter of mining, Lorrie is a champion for economic development, affordable housing and protecting the rights of all Minnesotans. She counts among her 30+ years’ experience:
Director of CareerForce Centers & Programming at the MN Department of Employment and Economic Development, overseeing 150 staff at 50 locations throughout the state
Planning Director at the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, one of Minnesota’s largest non-profits, responsible for strategic planning and policy development
Assistant for the St. Louis County Sixth District Commissioner Office, drafting policy recommendations and managing constituent relations
EMPOWER Coordinator at Hibbing Community College, supporting training and employment opportunities for women in nontraditional career paths
2016 Bush Fellow with focused work at the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board on the Recharge the Range initiative
Master’s of Public Policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs & Executive Certificate of Public Leadership from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University
